Ana Rola,
born in Peso da Régua into a family of winegrowers, whose job in a Port Wine
company was to find the growers with the best vineyards in the Douro to make
their grapes into wine, she has lived on the family estate - Quinta de
Remostias - since the age of 10 where her grandfather, Alberto Rola instilled
in her a love for the land and wine. She participated in grape harvesting
internships since 1998 in several Port Wine companies in the Douro.
In 2003, she completed her Oenology degree internship on "Carotenoids and aroma precursors in Port Wine" at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia da Universidade Católica do Porto.
In 2004, she attended the post-Graduate course in Wine Terroir, knowledge of the different Terroirs in various wine regions of the World at the ESA, École Superieure dÁgriculture de Angers, France and graduated in Oenology at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. She worked on a grape harvest in Tanunda, Barossa Valley, Australia, for the Torbreck company. She began her career as a winemaker in Caves Santa Marta, never straying away from the production of DOC Douro wines and Port wines.
In 2014, she started a partnership with her friend Helga Rodrigues and Helga's husband José Serpa Pimentel - Rola Wines.
